Fast Introduces AllTheWeb Alchemist
Search engine AllTheWeb now enables you to completely customize the front page and search results, by using a CSS style sheet. CSS is easy to learn if you don't know it already, or you can make use of style sheets that others have made, such as this plain stylesheet that I made. Some other style sheets made for AllTheWeb can be found by the Webmaster World link below. Initially I was able to remove the ads and sponsored links, but Fast contacted me about this and it has now been fixed (from their perspective, anyway).

Free Online Translators
An article on Business Week talks about online translation, and a number of tools which do it. As the article says, these tools are great for single-word translations, but for longer texts only provide you with the general meaning. Still, they are very useful, considering that a good portion of the internet is not in English.

Students Using the Internet for Research
This comprehensive article on the Washington Post discusses how students use the the internet for research. It talks about both the pros and cons of this, and quotes a number of educators. I will add to this that important facts should be verified by a number of different websites to ensure authenticity. The internet is a more valuable research tool if you use it properly and are aware of its faults. Also, to educators: stop blaming Google for specific websites' content.
